Blouson Noir, French for black jackets, was the name given to a 1950s youth subculture inspired by American rock ‘n roll. In Holland they were the Nozems, and the UK the Teddy Boys, they were all defined by their rebellious and non-conformist attitude and distinct style.

With this in mind, founder and designer Merijn began a single-product collection that presents the modern interpretation of classic coats. Eliminating superfluous details and turning classic into modern and old-fashioned into contemporary. With two collections a year, Blouson Noir delivers timeless designs to fit every occasion.

“I prefer to focus on the key fashion item; the coat.”

Merijn Steins Bisschop
